Société Générale has made two senior appointments in its global banking and investor solutions division, naming a new head of Global Markets Activities, as well as Global Transaction & Payment Services.
Liane Santenero is appointed head of Global Transaction & Payment Services, effective 1 October 2026. She succeeds David Abitbol, who has been appointed COO, Asia Pacific, at the bank. Santenero joins from BNP Paribas, where she was most recently head of corporate coverage Germany. With more than 25 years of experience in corporate and investment banking, she has held senior leadership positions across client coverage, strategy, business development, risk management, transaction banking, and structured finance.
Meanwhile, Hatem Mustapha has been promoted to head of Global Markets Activities, effective immediately, following the departure of Francisco Oliveira, who the bank says has decided to leave the group to pursue other opportunities.
Most recently, Mustapha served as co-head of Global Markets Activities and head of Equities & Equity Derivatives. Since joining SocGen in 2000, he has held senior leadership roles in the Risk division and across Markets activities.
Based in Paris, both appointees will report to Anne-Christine Champion and Alexandre Fleury, co-heads of Global Banking and Investor Solutions. Santenero joins, and Mustapha will remain a member of, the group management committee.
