BNY Launches European Crypto Custody Services

BNY has expanded its digital asset custody platform for select institutions in the European Union under the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework.
The expansion follows the addition of The Bank of New York Mellon SA/NV, BNY’s European banking entity, to the European Securities and Markets Authority MiCA register in July 2026 – enabling it to provide custody, administration, and transfer services for crypto-assets on behalf of clients in one of the world’s largest regulated markets for digital assets.
“Digital asset adoption is accelerating across Europe – from banks and broker-dealers expanding crypto-asset and stablecoin offerings to asset managers and corporate treasurers exploring digital payments and tokenised securities to enhance liquidity, settlement and collateral mobility,” says Jennifer Barker, head of Europe at BNY. “To support increasingly digital strategies, institutions need solutions with the same resilience, oversight and safeguards they rely on across traditional operations. By expanding our platform in Europe, we are providing clients with institutional-grade infrastructure to navigate this transition with confidence.”
