Bank ABC has formally named Simon Atkins as European head of treasury and financial markets for the investment bank – he took up the role late last year.
Atkins replaces Martin Westacott, who has held the role for the past six years, his future plans are unknown at this time. Atkins reports to Rajeev Adrian, CEO of ABC Investment Bank, in additional to a functional reporting line to Christopher Wilmot, group head of treasury and financial markets.
Atkins joins after a short career break, prior to which he spent over seven years at Lloyds Bank in corporate markets as head of financial markets, traded product and sales. Prior to that he spent just short of 12 years at HSH-Nordbank as head of capital markets for Asia, based in Singapore – he also spent six years at CIBC (where he had the misfortune to work for a period of time with the publisher of this publication), having joined that bank from Banque Paribas. Atkins spent the first nine years of his career at Barclays de Zoete Wedd, in FX trading.
“We are pleased to welcome Simon to Bank ABC, his deep knowledge and extensive international experience make him the ideal fit for this important role,” says Adrian, “His clear understanding of our client’s needs will be instrumental in shaping our strategy.”
Atkins adds, “I am delighted to join such a fantastic team and look forward to helping drive and shape the ambitious plans of the bank.”
