A Deeper Dive into the 2023 JP Morgan e-Trading Edit
Posted by Colin Lambert. Last updated: March 20, 2023
Following the release of the seventh annual JP Morgan e-Trading Edit, which polls traders’ views of key market structure and macro developments, Colin Lambert sat down with Scott Wacker, global head of electronic sales, FICC, and Kelvin Hebburn, head of G10 spot FX trading at the bank to get their key takeaways of the survey’s findings.
With more traders than ever taking the survey there was much to get into, including how the market coped with what Hebburn terms “episodic events” in markets, and, as Wacker observed, what seems to be a serious push to automation across all asset classes.
The three also discuss the evolution of technology in markets, and the role FX desks are playing in that, as well how data is going to have a play a central role if other asset classes are to increase electronification. There is also time for a chat around the Edit’s findings of increased expectations around the use of AI and machine learning, including how JP Morgan uses the cutting-edge technologies.
