Anshul Sidher has been appointed managing director and head of Markets at ANZ, following the departure of previous head Shayne Collins. He will continue to be based in Singapore and reports to group executive Institutional, Mark Whelan.
ANZ says Sidher, who has been with the bank since 2012, has helped drive growth in the fixed income, commodities and foreign exchange businesses globally, while pioneering new technology. Since joining, he has been global head of trading, and head of Asia Markets sales and trading
Prior to joining ANZ, Sidher spent just over two years at Barclays as head of structured derivatives and offshore rates – he joined the UK bank from Dresdner, where he soent over five years, most latterly as global head of USD and Asian options and exotics trading. He spent the first five years of his career at ABN Amro and Citi, in interest rates and exotics trading.
“Anshul brings extensive experience across all facets of global markets to this important role for the bank,” says Whelan. “He also has strong values and a track record of disciplined risk management while growing profitable businesses with a customer focus.”
Collins has been with ANZ for 17 years, he is the second senior Markets executive to leave one of the “big four” Australian banks after Drew Bradford, who headed Markets at NAB, left in March.
“I would like to sincerely thank Shayne Collins for his strong leadership of Markets over the past seven years, including through the pandemic and other times of significant volatility,” Whelan adds.
