Northern Trust has unveiled a new global head of foreign exchange with Dane Fannin expanding his role as global head of securities finance to encompass the FX business.
Fannin has been with the bank for 15 years, initially in Asia, before moving to Chicago to take up the securities lending role in 2019. He takes over from Marisa Kurk, who was named to head global FX in mid-2022 – in its release the bank doesn’t mention Kurk, there is unconfirmed speculation she is heading to another job in the industry. Kurk has worked at Northern Trust for just over four years, having joined from a year at Belvedere Trading as COO, prior to which she spent almost 14 years at Mesirow Financial in senior currency management roles.
In the combined role, Fannin will be responsible for the continued technology innovation and business growth across the suite of global FX and securities finance solutions, Northern Trust says. He reports to Guy Gibson, executive vice president and global head of capital markets, banking & treasury services.
“We are excited to announce this expansion in Dane’s responsibilities which reflect his strong vision and leadership in the development of our integrated capabilities across our global securities finance business,” says Gibson. “Dane’s dual focus will support our clients as they increasingly look for holistic solutions across their FX and securities finance needs to meet their liquidity and portfolio optimisation objectives.”
