Kate Lowe, the head of GlobalLink FX at State Street, has resigned to pursue other opportunities after six years with the company. Her departure will be effective from mid-August and her role will be taken over on an interim basis by Chris Matsko, who joined the bank as head of GlobalLink sales just a month ago.
Matsko will serve as Lowe’s replacement “while an internal and external search commences for a replacement,” a spokesperson for State Street said in an emailed comment. Matsko will to Greg Fortuna, Head of GlobalLink.
“Chris…will lead a talented and deep team that will continue to drive growth and execute on behalf of clients,” State Street said.
The FullFX understands that Lowe will spend six months on the sidelines to honour a non-compete clause. Her plans beyond that are not yet known.
Lowe’s departure is the latest reshuffle in the world of FX platforms, coming just weeks after LSEG hired Simon Jones from Deutsche Borse’s 360T while Jill Sigelbaum and Stephen Best, two senior staff at the owner of FXall and Matching, left the firm.
The moves come amid a rebound of trading volumes in June, with 360T’s spot volumes breaching the $30bn level ADV only the second time since the platform started reporting on its flows.
Lowe joined State Street’s platform business in July 2018 from Standard Chartered where she was the global head of FX prime brokerage for nearly two years. She started her career in 1998 at investment banking roles with UBS, JP Morgan and Credit Suisse over a period of five years. She moved into FX during a six year stint with JP Morgan, which she left as an executive director and global head of account management at the bank’s FX prime brokerage unit. Lowe moved to BNP Paribas where she spent 4.5 years before switching to Standard Chartered in 2016.
Matsko meanwhile joined GlobalLink last month from Factset, where he’d spent eight years. He also served at 360T as head of sales for the Americas between 2013-2015 and he’d spent more than seven years at FXall, starting in 2006.
