Michelle Girard has been appointed as head of US for NatWest Markets and CEO for the Stamford-Connecticut subsidiary NatWest Markets Securities.
Girard has been with the bank for almost 18 years, having joined in April 2004 as chief US economist. She has since held the roles of co-head of global economics and deputy head of US for the firm. Prior to joining NatWest, Girard had research and strategy roles at Prudential Securities, Sanwa Securities and Bear Stearns, having joined the latter in 1990 after an 18-month spell at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington DC as research assistant.
In her new role, Girard will sit on NatWest Markets’ executive committee, reporting directly to CEO Robert Begbie, who says, “[Michelle’s] energy, market intelligence, focus on customers and purposeful leadership make her the natural choice to lead our growth plans for the region. The US is a core part of NatWest Markets’ strategy, with a clear customer and coverage focus, and is essential to our business as we build and grow.”
