CLS says it handled average daily trading volumes of $1.812 trillion in November, a 2.9% drop from October, but a 1.1% increase year-on-year.
As highlighted by the FX trading platforms to report data earlier this month, spot activity rose at CLS, the service handling $467 billion per day, up 4.8% from October and by 3.1% year-on-year. Outright forward volumes dipped fractionally from October’s $102 billion to $99 billion per day in November, and were unchanged year-on-year.
FX swaps activity dropped on CLS, by 5.5% to $1.246 trillion per day, this represents a fractional increase from November 2020 where it was $1.241 trillion. This is largely in line with the data on non-spot activity released by Refinitiv last week, which saw activity drop by 5%. In contrast, however, 360T reported an increase in non-spot activity of 7.4%.
