FX market veteran and co-founder of BestX, Ollie Jerome, has joined the board of LoopFX as a non-executive director.
Prior to establishing BestX in 2016, Jerome was head of FX sales and trading for EMEA at Morgan Stanley for six years, having joined from a similar role at Standard Chartered. He started his career at JP Morgan, where he worked for more than a decade, most latterly as MD of FX sales and structured products. He stepped down from BestX, where he was CEO, in June 2023.
“[Ollie] was one of the very first people I spoke to when I first started to develop the idea of LoopFX and over the past two years he has always given me brilliant advice,” says Blair Hawthorne, CEO of LoopFX. “I am thrilled to make our working relationship formal with Ollie now joining the board.”
LoopFX was launched late in 2022, and recently announced a link-up with State Street’s FX Connect as its first major initiative. The service is based upon the peer-to-peer-to-bank matching concept, whereby matches between firm orders from buy side participants are prioritised, followed by a match with bank interest or a bank algo.
“Ollie is one of the most dynamic and well-connected executives in the FX industry, widely admired and respected,” says John Siewwright, chair of LoopFX. “His skills as a fintech innovator will augment the existing board and will bring even greater focus and drive to our ambitions to develop the world’s leading peer-to-peer FX solution for large trades.”
Jerome adds, “I’ve known Blair for several years, both as a client and a friend. Under his leadership, LoopFX is uniquely positioned to deliver real innovation in the FX market, generating new efficiencies and furthering the development of market structure to the benefit of all market participants. He has assembled a great team and I’m pleased to join his board of directors.”
