Peter Ward has been named head of markets electronic trading and digital strategy at Barclays.
He will be based in New York and joins from JP Morgan, where he worked for almost 11 years, most latterly as global head of futures and options electronic trading.
He reports to C.S. Venkatakrishnan, global head of markets, co-president of Barclays, and will have responsibility for the development of the BARX electronic platform.
Ward replaces Naz Al-Khudairi, who left the same role at Barclays – he held it for just over three years – to take a up a post in academia.
It marks a return to Barclays for Ward as he joined the bank’s electronic business when it bought certain assets of Lehman Brothers. At Lehman, Ward worked in electronic trading team for more than three years, having joined from ITG, where he was an e-trader in options.
