The Last Look…

It is a short, but necessary (and enjoyable), tradition that I use this column to promote the Chat Show – For FX’ Sake, at next week’s Full FX Conference in London, and this year’s episode will be a little different, in that I, apparently, am the guest, not the host.
For the unobservant among you (I know…you all scroll to the bottom of the newsletter to get to this…), my announcement at the top of the newsletter, that I am stepping down at the end of the year, means it will be my last London conference that I have any control over (and we all know that the use of the word “control” is laughable).
The optimist in me thinks my colleagues have arranged my appearance on The Chat Show as a guest, so that we can go through all the great things I have done on stage and written in these pages. The realist knows this would be a very short show and, frankly, they’re not going to pass up the opportunity to give me a hard time!
So, if you want to have one last chance to ridicule me in public, come along to the conference, and if the opportunity to give me a hard time is not enough, we can offer you the added bonus of an extended Full FX beverage list at the event.
Yes, we have last year’s stand-out hit, “The Pre-Hedger”, returning (it’s the beers before the official beers; we’re not sure we should be doing the right thing but until someone in authority tells us we are, were, going to carry on). But as a shameless fop to the aforementioned authorities, we are introducing a zero-alcohol beer this year as well – it’s called “Spoof”, and then while they are celebrating us doing the right thing, we have bottles of bubbles doing the rounds – “No Fizz…No Bizz”.
So, grab yourself a ticket, enjoy the exclusive beverages and please, only throw empty cans at me, not the bottles!
