Paul Houston, global head of FX at CME Group, sits down with Colin Lambert ahead of the much-anticipated launch of Spot+, a new FX venue, to discuss progress to date and ambitions for the platform.

Following an intensive period of testing, Houston highlights some unexpected and positive lessons that have emerged – not least the overall level of interest in the new venue and the role of passive interest during the testing period.

Lambert is keen to discuss where Spot+ sits in the broader CME Group FX offering as well as the target demographic for the new venue. Houston observes that Spot+ will provide access to a group of market participants that may not have previously had access to futures, or indeed EBS Market, but also benefit existing participants on CME FX venues. The two also look at how Spot+ will broaden CME’s reach into the FX market more generally.
