The latest in our Unfiltered series sees Colin Lambert talk to John Ashworth, CEO of Caplin Systems about what is happening in the regional and specialist bank segment, specifically around technological development.
Noting that regional players were actually early movers in the single dealer platform space, Ashworth says the next generation of platforms is emerging as firms re-tool their offerings, pushing further away from one-size-fits-all model to more customisation. He observes that regional and specialist banks have a wide range of clients with vastly different needs, and servicing these needs, ensuring that relationships are supported, means that flexibility is key.
The conversation closes out with a chat about how the industry in general is deploying AI – including the observation that “a fool with a tool is still a fool” – and coping with what Ashworth sees as a declining information environment on, for example, social media channels. The upside is AI can really help strengthen relationships, he adds, across the entire workflow.
