The Global Foreign Exchange Committee (GFXC) has unveiled Stuart Simmons, head of multi-asset solutions at QIC, as its new vice-chair.
Simmons has been appointed for a two-year term and replaces Stephanie Holtze-Jen, chief information officer at Deutsche Bank International Private Bank, who has completed her term in the role. The Full FX understands that Holtze-Jen will continue to chair the GFXC’s Code Adherence Working Group which, among others tasks, has been working to build out buy-side adoption of the Global FX Code.
Simmons has been with QIC for over nine years, the first seven of which saw him serve as head of currency for the fund. Prior to that, he worked for just over a year in investor FX sales at ANZ, having joined from a decade at Principal Global Investors, where he was FX portfolio manager and head of execution. Before that Simmons was head of FX trading at Bankers Trust Funds Management.
Simmons has been involved with the GFXC from the start, and has contributed to several initiatives, including the Proportionality Self-Assessment Tool, the guidance paper on Pre-Hedging, and diverse outreach activities to promote the adoption of the FX Global Code. “The GFXC is privileged to have him on board, and believes that his appointment will contribute significantly to the continued success of our activities,” the committee says in a statement.
