Markets lobby group, the Global Financial Markets Association (GFMA), has announced changes to its leadership team, with Olivier Osty taking the chair of the association for a two-year term.
Osty, head of corporate & institutional banking global markets at BNP Paribas, takes over as chair from Leonardo Arduini, former chief business officer of global markets at Citi. He will be joined by two vice chairs, Patrick George, global head of markets & securities services, HSBC and Adam Vos, global head of markets at BNY, who will represent Asia and the US, respectively, again for two years.
Peter Stein, CEO of the Asia Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (ASIFMA), has been appointed as CEO of GFMA. He takes over from Adam Farkas, CEO of the Association for Financial Markets in Europe (AFME).
“[GFMA] represent[s] the global financial markets industry on the most important financial markets issues impacting globally active market participants,” says Osty. “In 2025, there will continue to be challenges for global markets with potential regulatory and policy shifts ahead. GFMA therefore plays a vital role in helping to shape the evolution of international capital markets, as the industry navigates the ever-changing regulatory environment.”
In a joint statement, George and Vos, add, “We are committed to harnessing the collective expertise of the world’s leading financial market participants to drive sustainable growth and resilience in financial markets.”
