LSEG has unveiled co-heads of its lucrative Data & Analytics division, one from inside the firm, the other recruited from S&P Global Market Intelligence.
Gianluca Biagini and Ron Lefferts are tasked with leading the division, which includes the firm’s flagship Workspace initiative that is seeking to challenge Bloomberg’s Terminal, and which last year generated just over GBP 4 billion, almost half of LSEG’s GBP 8.4 billion overall revenues.
Lefferts has been with LSEG since 2021 and has been a member of the executive committee since 2023, while Biagini will join on 18 August 2025 and also join that committee. The two men will report to David Schwimmer, CEO of LSEG, who says, “Gianluca and Ron make a formidable team. Their highly complementary track records are outstanding; they bring deep expertise of driving transformation, building customer partnership and creating long-term value.”
New York-based Lefferts is currently group head of sales and account management at LSEG and is responsible for leading the global sales team to drive the growth of LSEG’s products and solutions through go-to-market strategy, sales and commercial excellence, product development, and partnerships across all customer segments and channels. Prior to taking this role in 2023, he was previously group head of strategic accounts, focusing on the firm’s largest customers.
Prior to LSEG, Lefferts was Protiviti’s global leader of technology consulting for three years, having previously spent almost 12 years at IBM, including time as managing partner, financial services sector for North America and managing partner, financial services, greater China group.
London-based Biagini has spent the last 15 years at first IHS Markit, and then S&P following that firms’ merger in 2022. He was most latterly head of data, valuations and risk analytics, leading all business activities related to pricing, valuation, reference data and analytics for financial instruments and assets across fixed income, private markets, cross-asset OTC derivatives, and equities. Prior to IHS, Biagini spent over 13 years at Bloomberg, most latterly as global head of data solutions.
