David Leigh has been appointed head of European FX at Deutsche Bank – the 18-year veteran of the bank, who has worked in the e-FX business over that time, takes up the role immediately.
According to sources, the announcement was made by Sameen Farooqui and Chris Leonard, co-global heads of foreign exchange at Deutsche, who took on the business following the announcement of Russell LaScala’s retirement after 20 years with the bank, the last six of which have been running global FX.
In the announcement, Farooqui and Leonard says Leigh will take responsibility for the management of the GFX business in Deutsche’s home market, as well as working across the broader Global FX and Global EM businesses to grow the overall FX franchise. “David has done an outstanding job since joining the bank as a graduate over 15 years ago, and his appointment marks a significant next step as we continue to build our capabilities and offering in every region,” they write. “Flow FX – and within that, electronic trading and execution – underpin our franchise, and it is an increasingly important differentiator for clients when choosing where to allocate business.”
