Sydney-based Chris Knight, who last year left XTX Markets where he was head of distribution for APAC, has joined LMAX Group as a managing director and he will oversee the growth and operations of the LMAX Digital business while its chief, Jenna Wright, is on maternity leave.
Knight is set to start his role in the summer and he will relocate to London from Sydney. Knight retired from XTX markets in September last year following eight years at the market maker. He’d previously worked at Standard Chartered for over 10 years and headed the bank’s e-commerce strategy for FX, rates and credit. He began his career in FX as a trader based in Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Sydney.
Knight is a member of the Australian Foreign Exchange Committee (AFXC), a representative forum of the Australian foreign exchange market and was last year appointed as president of ACI Australia.
“Chris has an excellent track record and pedigree in financial markets, and I’m delighted to welcome him to the Group,” says David Mercer, CEO, LMAX Group. “His previous experience in global distribution, automated trading and liquidity provision across asset classes, combined with his breadth of institutional relationships will be of great benefit to the business as we continue to deliver our FX and digital assets capabilities to the market.”
Knight adds, “LMAX Group has established itself as a fast-growing global business which sits at the crossroads of traditional and decentralised finance. LMAX Digital is leading the way in institutional trading of digital assets and I’m looking forward to leveraging my knowledge and network, working with David, Jenna, and the rest of the senior leadership team to help deliver on their strategic vision.”
