Ollie Jerome has returned to the FX industry after being named as European head of FX at Deutsche Bank, The Full FX understands – he fills the role vacated by David Leigh, who left the bank recently.
Jerome was last at BestX, a company he co-founded with Pete Eggleston and Aman Thind in 2016, that was subsequently bought by State Street. He left the business in mid-2023 to puruse other interests. Prior to that he spent six years at Morgan Stanley, most latterly as heads of FX and EM sales and trading for EMEA.
With a short period at Standard Chartered before that, Jerome kicked off his FX career with JP Morgan, where he worked for more than a decade in FX sales.
Deutsche Bank is going through a period of change, following a number of senior departures after former global head of FX, Russell LaScala left the bank – sources familiar with the matter say Jerome’s hire is start of the rebuilding process and vital to the bank’s efforts in Europe. The global FX business is currently run from Singapore and New York, and with Europe its main market, a head of FX for the region was a considered a key hire.
Jerome will report to Sameen Farooqui, Deutsche Singapore-based co-head of FX, and Chris Leonard, the co-head in New York.
