Invast Global has made a significant hire in naming Charl de Vleeschauwer as managing director, global head of electronic trading and execution.
De Vleeschauwer will be based in Sydney having relocated back to Australia from Singapore, where he was head of FX electronic markets and G10 trading for Asia Pacific for BNY Mellon. Prior to that he held senior FX and fixed income trading positions at Citi, Macquarie Bank and Deutche Bank in Sydney. Before moving to Sydney, de Vleeschauwer was head of spot FX trading at Rand Merchant Bank in London.
He will report to Gavin White, CEO of Invast Global, who says, “We are very excited to have attracted to Invast Global someone of Charl’s standing in the industry. Charl has been at the forefront of electronic trading over the past two decades and has deep understanding of how the markets have evolved through the period of electronification and onward to the rise of quantitative approaches to price making and warehousing risk.
“Over the past five years, we have been targeting the most talented computer science, mathematics and engineering graduates in the country and we now have a large team of very young, highly intelligent and dynamic achievers who have significant experience in electronic trading and product structuring,” he adds. “I can’t wait to watch Charl guide and mentor this incredible team over the coming years. We are aiming to be a significant player in the industry going forward.”
