HSBC is launching its Global Wallet solution in the US, a move the bank claims is the first multi-currency digital wallet that can be accessed from a major US bank’s main business banking platform with local payment and collections capabilities.
Global Wallet was launched earlier this year, and enables businesses to make and receive multi-currency payments from one account. Having launched with euro, sterling and US, Australian, Canadian, Hong Kong and Singapore dollars, the bank has also added capabilities in Chinese yuan, yen, Swiss francs and the Malaysian ringgit.
“This innovative solution is fully integrated with HSBC’s existing business banking platform, bringing the strength of the HSBC international network to our small and medium-sized business US customers, supporting a much more efficient expansion of their international businesses,” says Drew Douglas, head of liquidity and cash management, US and Canada at HSBC.
