ForexClear Sees Record Client Clearing in September

LCH’s ForexClear says it hit a new high in client notional and trades cleared in September.
Over $27.9 billion of client notional was cleared in the month, this was part of $1.96 trillion overall volume cleared, the third highest since ForexClear began offering clearing, and second only to March 2020 and March 2021, both of which saw just under $2.1 trillion cleared.
The vast majority of the cleared volume was in non-deliverable FX, with around $60 billion being deliverable, most if it in FX options.
The clearinghouse also cites a 100% increase in active clients using the service versus September 2020, the number of client trades cleared – in excess of 5,600 – was also up 100% ForexClear says.
Overall, in the first three-quarters of the year, ForexClear has handled $175.8 billion in client volume, up 35% year-on-year. In terms of overall volume ForexClear has handled an average $1.8 trillion per month in 2021, up 12.5% from the same period in 2020.
