In line with FX trading volumes generally in August, overall cleared volume at LCH ForexClear dropped from July, but were strongly up year-on-year.
The LSEG-owned business reports overall FX average daily volume cleared of $256 billion, just under July, but up 37% year-on-year. The peak for the service remains June 2026 at $286 billion.
Within this, NDF activity grew both on a month-on-month basis (by 2.9%) and year-on-year (42%), to $216 billion, the third highest reported thus far by ForexClear. That story was reversed in FX options, where lower activity generally translated into a drop in ADV from July of some 18%, while year-on-year activity continues to grow, by 20%. The current peak for FX options clearing at ForexClear is March 2026 at $50 billion.
