Kevin Connors is joining Nomura in London as global head of FX sales, he has spent the last four years in the hedge fund world, prior to which he was global head of FX sales for Bank of America and co-head of the same business at Goldman Sachs.
Michael Maras has been named global head of FICC research at Bank of America Merrill Lynch following the decision of previous head David Woo to step down. The bank has also named Flavio Corsini head of Brazil local currency trading.
Christian Skovgaard Larsen has joined LMAX Group as liquidity and relationship manager for LMAX Exchange and LMAX Digital. Previously he was a spot FX trader at Societe Generale, Dresdner Kleinwort and Danske Bank.
Yuta Inoguchi has joined FXSpotStream’s Tokyo office as a client relationship manager. He has spent the last five years at Commerzbank in Tokyo, where he had several roles, including relationship management and sales prior to which he worked at JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley and UBS Group.
Levi Dulitz has joined Citi in New York in its electronic trading risk management unit. He was formerly at Bloomberg in its fixed income, FX, repo and stock loan trading business.
Atul Bhatia has joined Jump Trading as technical business manager, he joins from a 15-year career at Brokertec.
Michael Porzio has joined Currenex as sales and business development executive, he was last at Jefferies, prior to which he worked in e-FX sales at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
Chetan Sennick and Iain Szucs have both left Bank of America Merrill Lynch in London. Sennick joined the bank in 2009 from Credit Suisse as was latterly leading the BAML’s FX options business, while Szucs was head of FX sales for Europe at the bank.
Paul Lynn has left Credit Agricole in London where he was head of financial institution sales for FX, Rates and credit, according to sources. Lynn joined the bank in 2018 after an almost eight-year career at Nomura, prior to which he worked at HSBC, Brevan Howard and Credit Suisse.
Ellie Griffiths has joined TD in London in e-FX sales, she joins from Natwest Markets in London where she worked for more than five years, latterly in e-FX sales also.
Anthony DeMartino has joined crypto exchange group Coinbase in its institutional trading business. He has worked at HSBC, Barclays and UBS in a variety of FX and fixed income roles, most latter he was head of Rates trading for HSBC in New York.
Former Wells Fargo emerging markets FX trader Luis Lopez Cedeño has joined the FX internation group at Umpqua Bank in California. Prior to his 13 years at Wells Fargo, Cedeño worked in FX at Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi and Bank of America in Mexico.
Michael Kirby has joined TraditionData as a senior member of the data sales team in the Americas. He joins from CME NEX where he managed the data services business, having migrated there from Icap and Tullett Prebon. He will report to Chris McGuigan, head of sales for the Americas at TraditionData.
Jim Kibbe has joined Capitolis as head of structured funding origination. Kibbe joins from HSBC where he served in a variety of roles including head of Rates, repo/derivative financing; co-head of institutional sales for the Americas; and head of macro sales. Prior to that he was head of Rates at UBS in the Americas.
Thomas Kruse has been named head of group treasury at German corporate Formel D Group. Kruse joined the company in September 2020 after spells in the corporate treasury at Yazaki Europe and Hofer AG.
Former JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs FX salesperson Ernesto Mercadante has joined Santander Corporate & Investment Bank in Madrid as head of its risk solutions group for continental Europe (ex-Iberia). Aside from a spell consulting, his last role was as co-head of risk solutions EMEA for Deutsche Bank in London
Bhupen Valani has joined JP Morgan’s transactional FX business from Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he was EMEA head of transactional FX trading. Prior to BAML, Velani worked in the transactional FX team of HSBC in London.
Sources say that Varut Dechpokket has been named global head of FX options at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in London, taking over from Chetan Sennick, who recently left the bank, while Brian Schlosser, has been given responsibility for the FX options business in North America.
Rick Schonberg has become the latest person to shift from the FX to the crypto world by joining cryptocurrency infrastructure firm Coinbase. He will be working on the firm’s institutional product as the crypto world gears up its efforts to attract big money. Schonberg was global head of product development at LCH Clearnet before the move, having also worked at Currenex, Goldman Sachs, EBS and JP Morgan in e-FX roles prior to that.
Kathryn Farina has been promoted to head of EMEA sales at CLS Group. She joined CLS as senior sales manager in 2018, after an almost nine-year spell in e-FICC sales at Barclays in London.
Seed CX and Zero Hash co-founder Brian Liston has stepped down from the business. In an announcement he says he is looking for other opportunities, perhaps in the climate space. Last year the firm closed its crypto exchange business to focus on infrastructure, including settlements.
Larry Evans has left Citi according to sources, he is to join UBS in New York in a senior position in the investor sales unit.
Suvadip Bose has left Goldman Sachs where he was a senior spot FX trader, according to sources, to take up an as yet unspecified role on the buy side. He joined Goldman in 2017 from a spot trading role at Citi.
Word is that former Barclays head of e-FX diastribution in the Americas, Holden Sibley, has left TP Icap after a short sojourn as head of its FX hub, to join LSE Group in New York as head of strategy for trading and banking solutions. Sibley joined the inter-dealer broker in April 2020 from a more than 17-year career at Barclays.
Carl Elsammak has joined Hong Kong-headquartered hedge fund Infiniti Capital as a sub-portfolio manager. Based in New York, Elsammak has spent the past 19 years as founder and head of trading at Kammas Capital in New York, prior to which he held senior raoles at Gain Capital, Prudential Financial and Bank of America.
FX veteran Kees Tol has left State Street in London where he was a senior FX trader. Tol, who has also worked for Standard Chartered and Barclays in a 43-year career, was actually due to depart the US custodian last year but was asked to stay on.
Andy DePhillips has joined RBC Capital Markets in New York as a foreign exchange specialist on the sales team. He was last at HSBC in New York in institutional FX sales, having previously worked in FX roles at BNP Paribas, Credit Suisse, Citi, Commerzbank and UBS.
Masami Johnstone has left her role as head of information services at CLS Group to found her own firm BlissFintech, a business dedicated to helping fintech companies grow, especially through the application of data science and machine learning. Prior to her 18-month stint at CLS, Johnstone was head of institutional quant research and then head of buy side sales at Euronext – she also had a 10-year spell at ITG and worked for almost 13 years at Baring Asset Management.
Sandeep Arora has been named Citi’s global head of fintech and innovation for its Markets and Securities Services businesses in the Institutional Clients Group (ICG). Arora has been with the bank for 30 years and last year was tasked with leading a project to build an end-to-end strategy for the bank’s electronic platforms within ICG.
Sources say that Lynn Spadaro has resigned from Refintiv (LSE Group) in New York, where she was team lead, transactional sales, for FXall. Spadaro has been with the firm through its various iterations since 2014, before which she had spells at hedge funds Hyman Beck, as well as FX roles at Deutsche Bank, Lehman Brothers and Morgan Stanley.
Cboe has named Catherine Clay to head its new data and access solutions division, which will integrate the company’s suite of data solutions, analytics and indices, with its market data services offerings. Cboe’s market data services – real-time, historical and derived data sets, along with equities, options, futures and FX data – are expected to be made available through this new division, providing customers more efficient access to Cboe’s full suite of data services. Additionally, the new division also unifies the sales teams, providing customers with a single point of contact for all of these services. Clay has been with Cboe since 2015 in its market data business, having joined from Livevol Inc.
Benjamin Goddard has left Invast Global where he was most recently head of prime services, EMEA. He has joined MSCI in Sydney as a senior associate.
Michael Chin has been named CEO of Broadway Technology, he joins from Refinitiv, which is now part of LSE Group, where, since 2016, he was global head of trading which involved responsibility for the pre-trade desktop, execution platforms, real-time data, and analytics across equities, fixed income, foreign exchange, and commodities. Broadway co-founder and CEO Tyler Moeller will become chief innovation officer.
