Komianu, the digital assets custody joint venture between Nomura, CoinShares and Ledger, says it has been selected by ETC Group, a European digital asset-backed securities (ETPs), as custodian for its first index ETP, which will track the MSCI Global Digital Assets Select 20 Capped Index.
The MSCI index features the top 20 investable digital assets by market capitalisation – thus providing investors, Komainu says, with access to a broad-market index product for a truly diversified allocation to digital assets. The ETP will launch on Deutsche Börse’s Xetra later in April and claims to be the first ETP to be based on an MSCI index.
“Custody is always a primary focus for institutional investors when it comes to digital assets. Komainu is the ideal partner for this new benchmark product due to the technology at the core of their offering, giving a breadth and flexibility unique in the market,” says Tim Bevan, co-CEO of ETC Group. “They have a strong track record in providing the type of regulated, cold-storage custodial solutions demanded by institutional investors and this partnership reaffirms our commitment to selecting only tier one partners from both traditional and digital financial markets.”
