The asset manager has made the appointment as part of an increased focus on the region
Luiz Sorge has been named head of Latin America, with effect from 1 January 2020. He will be based in São Paulo, Brazil, and report to Sandro Pierri, global head of the firm’s Client Group.
Sorge is taking on the role in addition to his existing responsibilities as CEO of BNPP AM Brazil, meaning he will take the helm of the firm’s operations in Argentina, Chile, Columbia, Mexico and Peru. He will also join the Client Group management committee and BNPP AM’s global business committee, in addition to regional governance committees.
Sorge joined BNPP AM in 2001 as director of Products for BNPP AM Brazil, in 2007 he became head of sales & product development for institutional and individual investors, external distributors and foreign investors, and in July 2013 he was appointed CEO of BNPP AM Brazil and a member of the executive committee of Banco BNP Paribas Brasil.
“LatAm is a strategically important region for BNPP AM globally, as part of our emerging markets focus,” says Pierri. “[This appointment] will enable us to accelerate our business development in LatAm by adopting a more integrated approach and enhancing client servicing.”
