AUDM, Australia’s first Australian-dollar stablecoin issued under an Australia Financial Services License (AFSL), is now available on LMAX Group, according to its issuer Macropod.
The listing brings AUDM to a firmly-established institutional trading infrastructure, giving participants across more than 100 countries direct access to a regulated Australian dollar stablecoin.
The move means that LMAX now connects traditional FX and digital asset liquidity with tokenised on-chain execution through AUDM. For Macropod, the integration marks a what it says is a significant expansion beyond retail and exchange access into institutional liquidity: “the kind of infrastructure that global capital markets are increasingly built on”.
AUDM has settled two of the Reserve Bank of Australia’s Project Acacia use cases (a tokenised managed investment scheme and Australia’s first tokenised wholesale corporate bond) and powers live retail payments in production, including at cafés in Sydney using wallet technology.
“Getting AUDM in front of the institutions that already move the world’s FX markets is a significant moment for us,” says Drew Bradford, CEO of Macropod. “LMAX has spent over a decade building the kind of trusted, regulated infrastructure that global capital markets run on, and now that infrastructure can execute in Australian dollars, on-chain, in real time. That’s the shift we’re chasing: from questioning when value will land to knowing it already has.”
Chris Knight, managing director, LMAX Digital, adds, “The listing of AUDM further strengthens our role in connecting traditional finance with the digital asset ecosystem. By bringing a regulated Australian dollar stablecoin to our institutional execution venues, we are providing clients with greater flexibility to access liquidity and execute transactions across FX and digital assets. As institutional participation in tokenised financial infrastructure accelerates, trusted, transparent and regulated stablecoins such as AUDM will play an increasingly important role in global capital markets.”
