As reported in last week’s newsletter by The Full FX, David Leigh has been named as co-head of FX and emerging markets at Nomura.
Based in London, he will partner with current co-head Nagaraj Pangal, who is based in Singapore, to jointly lead Nomura’s FX & emerging markets business globally. Pangla has been with Nomura for almost 11 years, having joined from RBS as global head of FX options trading, before taking on his current role in March 2023, alongside Kevin Connors, who recently left the bank.
Leigh joins Nomura from Deutsche Bank where he most recently served as EMEA head of FX while also running its global FX spot, precious metals and electronic trading businesses, in all he spent just shy of 20 years with the German bank, leaving earlier this year. Leigh will report globally to Rig Karkhanis, head of global markets at Nomura, and locally to Nat Tyce, head of global markets, EMEA.
“David’s appointment comes at an exciting time for our FX and emerging markets business,” says Karkhanis. “With our strong existing team, the growth and diversification of our client franchise, and the recent increases in market volatility, we are confident in the continued success of our FX and emerging markets business globally.”
