Effective today (31 March), Hans Buehler has been named as co-CEO of XTX Markets, alongside founder and co-CEO Alex Gerko.
The move is part of a planned management transition first announced in 2022 when previous co-CEO Zar Amrolia, announced his intention to step down from the role he has held since joining in 2015 from Deutsche Bank. Amrolia remains associated with XTX Markets as non-executive chairman of XTX Group.
Buehler joined XTX in mid-2022 from JP Morgan, where he was global head of equities data analytics, automation and optimisation, as well as equities sales, securities services quantitative research. His appointment was widely seen as an indication of XTX’ growing interest in the equities business, which has indeed burgeoned in recent years.
‘It’s an honour to take over as co-CEO from Zar,” says Buehler. “XTX is in a very strong business position and I look forward to continuing to work with Alex to further grow the business.”
Amrolia adds, “It’s a pleasure to hand over the reins to Hans. I will give him and Alex my full support as chairman to help drive XTX to even greater things. I wish him all the best in his new role.”
